Ross Douthat Depicts Palin as a Conservative Feminist Martyr

“Here are lessons of the Sarah Palin experience, for any aspiring politician who shares her background and her sex. Your children will go through the tabloid wringer. Your religion will be mocked and misrepresented. Your political record will be distorted, to better parody your family and your faith.”

Multitouch surface made from commodity PC components
I just caught a demo of the Tactable multitouch surface, which grew out of an MIT Media Lab project. It’s an impressive product, a mid-sized table with a sharp projector set underneath the glass. It uses an array of moderate-resolution optical sensors to tell where it’s being touched, and the sensors have variable focus, so they can sense 3D gestures over the surface as well as contact with the surface itself. The projector’s good and bright, and the picture looked good in a well-lit room (albeit a darker corner of same). - Cory Doctorow

“ Then, after all that, she smugly asserts the right to decide who is a patriot and who is not. It’s not about “country,” in other words, it’s about hypocrisy. And Sarah Palin is full of it. „

“ Indeed, Mousavi, Prime Minister from 1981 to 1989, almost certainly had a hand in the planning of the Iranian-backed truck-bombing attacks on the U.S. embassy in April 1983 and the Marine barracks in October of that same year…It is a promising sign that Mousavi has put his violent past behind him, as has Iran for the most part, but let’s not completely forget his far-from-democratic roots. „
